Latitude vs. Wind Speed

The correlation between a city's latitude and wind speed is weak for both the northern and southern hemisphere cities, with r-values of 0.22 and -0.31, respectively. Therefore, latitude alone may not be the best explanation for a city's wind speed. However, it is worth mentioning that the highest wind speeds appear to be in the cities furthest away from the equator.
